These booking terms apply to all trips arranged by TANZURI. Please read them carefully before confirming your booking. By paying a deposit, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms on behalf of everyone in your party. Where your quotation or booking confirmation sets out specific terms, those specific terms apply.
1. 1. Enquiries and quotations
Quotations are prepared based on the information you give us and on supplier rates, availability, park fees and exchange rates at the time of quoting.
Each quotation states how long it is valid. Accommodation, flights and activities are not reserved until your booking is confirmed, and availability can change until then.
2. 2. Booking confirmation and deposit
To confirm your booking, we require a deposit as stated in your quotation, together with the names and passport details of all travellers where required by suppliers.
Your booking is confirmed when we have received your deposit and issued a written booking confirmation. At that point, a contract exists between you and TANZURI on these terms.
3. 3. Balance payment
The balance of the trip price is due by the date stated in your quotation or booking confirmation. For bookings made close to the travel date, full payment may be required at the time of booking.
If the balance is not received by the due date, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and the cancellation charges below will apply.
4. 4. Payment methods
Payments are made by bank transfer or by other methods as stated in your quotation or invoice. Bank charges and any card or transfer fees are the responsibility of the payer unless otherwise stated.
Please make sure payments reach us in full in the stated currency. For your security, always confirm our bank details directly with us before sending money; we will never change bank details by email without separate confirmation.
5. 5. Cancellation by you
If you need to cancel, please tell us in writing as soon as possible. Cancellation takes effect on the date we receive your written notice.
Cancellation charges apply on a scale based on how close to the travel date you cancel, as set out in your quotation or booking confirmation. The closer to departure, the higher the charge, because our suppliers apply their own cancellation terms.
Some items — such as certain domestic flights, Kilimanjaro permits, park fees already paid and some peak-season accommodation — may be non-refundable once booked. We will point these out in your quotation. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.
6. 6. Changes to your booking
If you would like to change your trip after it is confirmed, we will do our best to help. Changes depend on availability and may incur supplier charges and a difference in price.
Changes to names, dates or accommodation may be treated as a cancellation and rebooking by some suppliers. We will tell you the cost before making any change.
7. 7. Changes or cancellation by TANZURI
Occasionally we may need to make changes to your itinerary, for example if a lodge or airline changes its schedule, or for safety reasons. Where possible, we will offer an alternative of a similar or higher standard.
If we must cancel your trip for reasons within our control, we will offer you an alternative trip or a full refund of the money you have paid us.
8. 8. Force majeure
We are not responsible for changes, delays or cancellations caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as extreme weather, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, government action, airport closures or similar events.
In such cases we will do our best to help you, including arranging alternatives and seeking refunds from suppliers, but we cannot be liable for costs that we are unable to recover.
9. 9. Park fees, taxes and price changes
National park, conservation area, concession and similar fees, and government taxes, are set by the authorities and may change with little notice, including after your booking is confirmed.
If fees, taxes or government charges increase after confirmation, we may need to pass on the difference. We will explain any such change and provide details.
10. 10. Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of booking. It should cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation (including air evacuation), cancellation and curtailment, and personal belongings, and — for Kilimanjaro and other treks — the maximum altitude you will reach.
Zanzibar currently requires visitors to hold Zanzibar-specific inbound travel insurance in addition; we will confirm the latest rules when you book.
11. 11. Passports, visas and health
It is your responsibility to hold a valid passport, the correct visa and any required health documents (such as a yellow fever certificate where applicable). We provide general guidance, but requirements can change and depend on your nationality and travel history.
Please seek medical advice before travelling, including about malaria prevention and vaccinations.
12. 12. Health, fitness and Kilimanjaro
Please tell us at the time of booking about any medical condition, disability or mobility needs that may affect your trip, so that we can advise you and inform suppliers.
Kilimanjaro and other high-altitude treks are physically demanding and involve risks, including altitude sickness. You must be in good health and are advised to consult a doctor before booking. Guides may require a trekker to descend if they believe it is necessary for the trekker’s safety; their decision is final and no refund is due for unused days.
13. 13. Conduct and wildlife safety
Safaris take place in wild areas with potentially dangerous animals. You must follow the instructions of your guides, rangers and camp staff at all times, and obey the rules of the national parks and reserves.
We, our guides or our suppliers may end the participation of any traveller whose behaviour puts themselves or others at risk, or causes serious disruption, without refund.
Please respect local cultures and laws, including dress codes and asking permission before photographing people.
14. 14. Our responsibility and suppliers
We take care in selecting the lodges, camps, airlines, transport providers and other suppliers who deliver the services in your trip. These suppliers are independent businesses and are subject to their own terms and to the laws and regulations of the places where they operate.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss, injury, damage or delay caused by the acts or omissions of independent suppliers, by you or your party, or by events beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
15. 15. Complaints
If something is not right during your trip, please tell your guide, the property or us straight away so that we have the chance to put it right while you are travelling.
If you remain unhappy, please write to us within 30 days of the end of your trip and we will respond as promptly as we can.
16. 16. Governing law
These terms and any booking made with TANZURI are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania.
