Tanzania is one of the best places in Africa for a wildlife safari. Around a quarter of the country is set aside for national parks, conservation areas and game reserves, and its parks range from the famous plains of the Serengeti to the remote rivers of Nyerere and Ruaha.

We plan each safari around what you most want to see, the time of year and the pace you enjoy — whether that is a classic northern circuit, a migration-focused trip, or a wild southern adventure with boat and walking safaris.

What to expect

  • Game drives in a 4x4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof or open sides, led by a professional driver-guide
  • Early starts to catch the most active hours of the day, with a relaxed break in the midday heat
  • A chance to see lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos and much more
  • Accommodation in lodges or tented camps, chosen to suit your budget tier
  • Optional extras such as hot-air balloon flights, walking safaris or boat safaris, depending on the park
  • Honest expectations — wildlife is wild, and no sighting can ever be guaranteed

Our tips

  • Allow at least two nights in the Serengeti — distances are large and time in the park is what makes the difference.
  • Pack neutral-coloured clothing, a warm layer for early mornings and good binoculars.
  • If the Great Migration is a priority, tell us early; the best camps for each season book up quickly.
  • Listen to your guide and stay in the vehicle unless told otherwise — it keeps you and the animals safe.
